Hello everyone, my name is Sanket Shirke. Today I would like to share something about myself. As you know, JNVians always love to do creative things, and I am interested in Composing and Singing. Music is my passion and I enjoy the most especially creating new compositions.
To be honest, I don’t have any musical background. My life in music started in 1996 when I got selected in JNV Ratnagiri (MH) and after that, the magic of music started and became my most preferred thing in life. Because of Navodaya, I was blessed to have training and guidance from Mr. Mukesh Kumar Manjrvey. He is the first person who recognized my talent and motivated me to further enhance my singing talent. I will always be thankful to him to make me realize what my real passion was.
In 9th standard, I shifted to JNV Bikaner (Rajasthan) as a part of migration systems in Navodaya. At the beginning, I was both nervous and excited about my new journey. There I got the opportunity to learn from another best music teacher Mr. Ahmed Bashir ji. I learned basics of Keyboard and Congo and got the chance to play instruments in daily Navodaya prayer. This enables me to play various musical instruments besides singing.
One moment which I will always cherish in my life is when I got an opportunity to perform live at Bikaner Akashwani for the first time, where I played Congo on Rajasthani Songs. At 10th standard, I came back to my home JNV i.e. JNV Ratnagiri. Now as in 10th class there are no scheduled music classes but I participated in various musical activities and continued my interest towards the same. Thus JNV played a crucial role in my musical Journey.
After Navodaya, it was very hard to continue music training without proper guidance as its rare to find a qualified music teacher in the rural area. On top of it, my engineering college was also located in the village area, which made my music learning a bit difficult. One fine day I was watching an interview of Mr. Sonu Nigam who is also my role model, in which he said: “If you could not have a good teacher, then listen to old songs and learn from them”. That one statement became my inspiration and gave me a ray of hope to restart my musical journey.
I started listening to Mohd Rafi Saab, Kishor da, Ghulam Ali Ji, Asha Tai, Hariharan sir and Sonu Nigam sir and many others to resume my preparations and to start a career in music. But then another hurdle came in my dreams when I had to start earning for me and my family little early than expected, and for that, I joined TTML as a Telecom Engineer in 2008. After this, I got over-engaged in the job and could not focus on music, which was unacceptable to me. Hence, after around 2 years I decided to devote my extra time to music and I took training from Mr. Ashish Golani sir for 3.5 years. I was glad to finally have a Guru to guide me in Music after 10 Years. From then on, I started composing and singing songs and established myself to become a good professional.
In order to follow my passion, I decided to quit my job to give my complete dedication to composing songs and entertain the world with my voice. Now I am part of a Musical Group called “Musical Minds Mumbai” as Composer and Singer. Till date, we have released 3 songs on YouTube and one of our song “Man Nachare” was released in 9X Jhakaas Marathi music channel last year. You can watch it on Jhakas singles show between 8:00 to 9:00 p.m (YouTube Link shared below). In coming days, besides own compositions, my group is planning to release Hindi/ Marathi cover songs and also to perform live. I hope I will get complete support from my JNV Family to promote my work.
I think art, talent or anything is not god gifted. One has to recognize his /her potential and follow his/her dreams with full dedication, positive attitude, and honest hard work. Lastly, I want to say that if anyone can do anything, I can do the same thing and if I can do anything, then anyone can do the same thing.
